Exhibition: June 16 - July 22, 2007
Venue: A-SPACE, no.1 ARTBASE, Hegezhuang Village, Cuigezhuang Town, Beijing

For immediate release :

As the biggest art complex in China with an exhibition area of 3900 square meters, A-SPACE creates a platform of exchange for artists from all over the world. Now, A-SPACE proudly presents “Dream Palace”, a joint exhibition of western and Chinese artists as its inaugural show.

We are honored to invite you to a cocktail party, the opening ceremony of Dream Palace, to be one of the first to enjoy the masterpieces by over 50 well-known artists from China and overseas, including performances, installations, photographs, videos, drawings, paintings, and sculpture.

Chinese artist mean to make a new nation, to restore a lost influence, to give the 1.3 billion of China the foundation on which to build an inspired dream-palace of their national thoughts. We as western artists come to these Chinese artists as strangers, unable to think their thoughts or subscribe their beliefs, but I hope, charged by duty to walk with them forward. Develop to the highest any movement of the Chinese artists profitable to China and art, as advocate critic and noticed influence.

So we may be near to seeing things through the veils at once of two customs, two educations, two environments; This exhibition will compare and contrast the work of over 50 contemporary Chinese and Western artists who will approach this metaphorical Dream Palace, and explore tensions in the dialog of cultural, social, and political landscape and the gaps in understanding focusing on the collective communication and interaction between their works explored in different media, including performances, installations, photographs, videos, drawings, paintings, and sculpture.

This event will be the inaugural show at A-SPACE, which is the main exhibition hall of Beijing 1ARTBASE. Beijing 1ARTBASE will soon to become the biggest art complex in the world with over 2700 acres. In addition to the exhibition, this show will include public programming and a catalogue.
